And our annual trip to the Christmas Lights at Temple Square:

We had so many fantastic highlights this year! However, it was also a year of hardships. We started the year with a lot, and I mean A LOT of problems. My car broke down multiple times, and we didn't know what was wrong with it for quite a while. Our hot water was broken at the beginning of the year, meaning we had a lack of showers for about two weeks. Our air conditioning was out all summer - a record-breaking hot summer - and the company that was supposed to fix it stopped answering our calls until September. We were sick multiple times. My car was broken into. Then it broke down. I think we have spent more money on fixing/replacing things than anything else! To be honest, I am thrilled that this year is over. I am so happy that 2014 has started and I can put this year behind me. Hopefully we will have better luck this year (knock on wood!)

I don't think that's gonna happen by itself though. I don't think that me hoping will make a difference. So I have decided to start this year in an awesome way - I am doing a challenge called #100daysofhappy on Instagram. I will be taking a photo a day of something that makes me happy for at least 100 days. I want reminders of the small things each day that make me happy, so that I don't focus on the larger things that aren't going so well. I plan on posting some of the photographs on here as well, but feel free to go to my Instagram (alstapley) and see them all there!

I want this year to be the best possible, and I hope everyone has an amazing year too!
